
Parasite : Actor Lee Sun-kyun, best known for his part in the Academy Award–winning film “Parasite,” passed away in Seoul. At an undisclosed location in Seoul, police found Lee unconscious. According to Yonhap news agency, Lee had been looking for his brother after hearing from his family that he had left home earlier on Wednesday and had written a note resembling a suicide note. A charcoal briquette was found in the car’s passenger seat after Lee’s death was later confirmed.
For his part as the head of an affluent family in “Parasite,” Lee is most known. He was honored with a Screen Actors Guild award in 2021 for being “cast in a motion picture” for his performance in that movie. He was a nominee at the International Film Festival for Best Actor.
His role in the science fiction thriller “Dr. Brain” earned him an Emmy Award last year. Before becoming well-known for Parasite outside of Korea, Lee was a familiar face on Korean television for many years. He rose to prominence in the popular drama series Coffee Prince (2007) and gained wider recognition with the medical drama Behind the White Tower. His subsequent hits include “asta” (2010) and My Mister (2018).
