Soumya Sarkar Bangladesh
Profile
Talented cricketer Soumya Sarkar was born in Satkhira, Bangladesh, and debuted for Khulna Division in the 2010–11 season. In the last match of the home series against Zimbabwe in December 2014, he made his ODI debut by hitting at No. 3 and scoring 20 from 18 balls. Sarkar played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s remarkable setup that won series at home against South Africa, India, and Pakistan. In the nine combined matches against those three formidable opponents, he amassed 497 runs overall, including three half centuries and an undefeated hundred and thirty-three against Pakistan. Against players like Morne Morkel, Rabada, Morris, and Tahir, he scored 27, 88*, and 90 to win the Man of the Match award.

On April 28, 2015, Sarkar played his first game in the longest format against Pakistan, scoring 33 in both innings. He was removed from the Test team following a few setbacks. Due to Imrul Kayes’ injury, Sarkar was able to return in the five-day format against New Zealand in Christchurch in 2017. His 86 in the opening essay secured him a spot in the starting eleven on a regular basis. His finest series to date has been the away Test series against Sri Lanka, where he scored three straight fifties in the two-match series that ended in a 1-1 draw.
The joint record for most catches made in a World Cup game is held by Soumya Sarkar, who has four (with
Umar Akmal and Muhammad Kaif). Only a few months after making his ODI debut, he was chosen for the 2015 ICC World Cup in Australia. Sarkar helped Bangladesh achieve a remarkable run into the quarterfinals of the 2015 World Cup with his 175 runs in six innings during the major competition.
The left-hander, who hasn’t played well in England this World Cup, will be eager to improve on his results now that he has a ticket to the competition. He has been able to regain his place in the team thanks to a few strong domestic performances, and he and Bangladesh might benefit greatly from a few strong innings at the top of the order.
