As police attempt to carry out a search warrant, a house explosion shocks a neighborhood close to Washington, D.C.

Before the explosion, according to police in Arlington County, Virginia, someone shot other rounds from inside his house using a flare gun.

While Arlington, Virginia, police were looking into a man who discharged a flare pistol from inside his house numerous times on Monday night, a tremendous explosion consumed the house and shook the area, according to authorities.

Although the fate of the suspect who was inside the house when it burst was not immediately known, authorities stated that no significant injuries were sustained by the police.

Social media users captured the massive flames, what looked to be the roof, and other debris being launched into the air during the explosion, which neighbors in the suburb of Washington, D.C., claimed could be felt and heard for miles around.

Gunfire was followed by an explosion.

Around 4:45 p.m., neighbors heard what appeared to be gunfire, and authorities investigated and found that someone had discharged a flare pistol, Arlington County police spokesman Ashley Savage told reporters.

Officers “attempted to make contact with the suspect over the telephone and through loudspeakers” after obtaining a search warrant for the residence in the 800 block of North Burlington Street, according to a police statement.

When the occupant failed to reply, “the suspect discharged several rounds, from what is believed to be a firearm, inside the home,” police continued, as they attempted to carry out the search warrant.

The detonation occurred approximately at 8:25 p.m.

The fire department said that by approximately 10:40 p.m., the fire was contained, although spot fires were being

discussed.

Since they are unable to enter the house, officials are unable to verify if any deaths have occurred. Savage claims that the suspect was inside at the time of the explosion.

“As of right now, we know of just one person who was inside the house,” Savage stated.

About 30 to 40 flare gun shots had been fired “from inside his residence into the surrounding neighborhood,” according to a statement released by police early on Tuesday.

The individual at issue in this case remained anonymous. According to Savage, the circumstances surrounding the explosion were being looked into.

After hearing the explosion more than two miles away, Carla Rodriguez of South Arlington arrived at the site, but police held her at a distance.

“I truly believed that a plane had exploded,” she said to the Associated Press.

As the explosion rocked his land, one local guy, Bob Maynes, believed a tree had fallen on his house.

Maynes told the Associated Press, “I was watching television in my living room when the whole house shook.” “That wasn’t a The entire home trembled, but it was only a slight earthquake.

Congressman Don Beyer (D-Va.) described the incident as “very, very scary” on X and expressed gratitude to the first responders for their efforts.

County police said that minor injuries were recorded by police. According to the police department, nobody had been hospitalized.

According to a spokesman for the FBI’s field office in Washington, the agency was supporting the probe. Additionally, fire investigators from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives stated they were on the site and available to help.
