Dec. 19, Dubai [UAE] (ANI): Star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka unexpectedly joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of Rs 1.5 crore, while rookie Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand was picked up at a discount by the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Hasaranga, a spinner for Royal Challengers Bangalore, joined the ranks of in-demand T20 league player Steve Smith. In 58 T20Is, Hasaranga has claimed 91 wickets while amassing 533 runs for Sri Lanka. Hasaranga was coveted by Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings; nonetheless, the reigning champions paid Rs 1.8 crore to acquire him. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 talent Rachin still needs to establish himself in T20Is. Chennai paid Rs 4 crore to get Indian bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur.
Rachin Ravindra, a Kiwi all-rounder, has been acquired by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 1.80 crore in the IPL 2024 season. The MS Dhoni-led franchise, led by Rachin, had initially bid Rs 50 lakh. After Delhi Capitals raised the price by Rs 5 lakh, Chennai Super Kings made their first purchase of the 2024 auction, securing Ravindra’s services.
With 578 runs in 10 innings during the 2023 ODI World Cup, Indian cricketer Ravindra, 24, made a big impression. He is renowned for his ability to take significant wickets and his effective left-arm orthodox spin. With 11 wickets and 145 T20I runs under his belt, Ravindra is anticipated to be a key member of his Indian team.
